Aftercare:

Following a full body massage many clients feel immediate benefits. They may feel relief from aches and pains that they were experiencing. They often experience a feeling of wellbeing generated by the creation of endorphins, and they may enjoy the feel of their freshly moisturised skin.

To maximise the benefits of massage, it is wise for clients to assist their circulatory and lymphatic systems in the removal of toxins from their muscles. In the hours following their massage they should:

1. Drink plenty of water.

2. Eat only light meals to include fruit, vegetables and low fat foods.

3. Have a suitable period of rest or only gentle exercise.

4. Avoid alcohol, soft drinks containing caffeine and strong coffee or tea.

5. Expect to urinate a little more than usual.

First time clients especially need to know that they may feel muscular tiredness later, as if they had done a physical workout. Slow and gentle stretching of any aching limbs, or a warm bath can help ease mild discomfort.

Many massage clients enjoy a good night's sleep and feel the benefits more fully 24 hours after their massage.

If a client were concerned in any way about their reactions to massage, then I would like them to contact me. Feedback from clients is important in order for me to adjust and improve the treatments that I provide.
